The distributed traveling wave fault diagnosis technology pioneered by Wuhan Three Phase Power has become an indispensable and important technical means for transmission line fault diagnosis after more than a decade of continuous development, improvement, and promotion and application. Since 2016, Wuhan Three Phase Power has continued to conduct in-depth research on the technology of "wide area monitoring of abnormal status of transmission lines" and successfully developed a new generation of distributed products. On the basis of perfectly inheriting the functions of fast and accurate fault positioning and fault nature discrimination, it has added wide area monitoring and warning functions of abnormal status, which can accurately warn, locate and identify the abnormal status of transmission lines in advance, and achieve integrated monitoring before and after faults.
In May 2021, the new generation distributed product passed the technical appraisal of China Electric Power Union, and the expert group believes that the overall technology has reached the international leading level.
At present, the new generation of distributed products has been gradually applied in transmission lines of various voltage levels in multiple provinces and cities across the country. While ensuring the accuracy of fault diagnosis, dozens of abnormal discharges (including insulator pollution discharge, composite insulator degradation discharge, vegetation ultra-high discharge, hardware discharge, floating foreign object discharge, and other types) have been successfully warned. Especially with the advancement of technology, the application effect is accelerating, and more than 20 abnormal discharge cases of power lines were discovered in 2022 alone.
In the future, the widespread application of new generation distributed products will further enhance the safety of transmission line operation and promote the innovation of operation and inspection modes.
